Meeting Held in Kandahar on Law Governing the Collection and Preservation of Jihadi Heritage

A meeting was held at the Kandahar Directorate of Information and Culture to explain the law governing the collection, preservation and registration of jihadi heritage.
The meeting was attended by Mufti Mohammad Tahir Ahmad, Director General of the General Directorate for the Preservation of Jihadi Heritage at the Ministry of Information and Culture; Qari Ahmadullah Saeed Khosti, Director of Jihadi Heritage and Documents Registration; a number of officials from Kandahar’s civilian and military institutions; and district chiefs from the province.
Mufti Inamullah Samangani, Director of Information and Culture of Kandahar Province, welcomed the participants and outlined the objectives of the meeting.
Mufti Mohammad Tahir Ahmad said the meeting  being held in Kandahar in accordance with an oral directive from the Leader of the Islamic Emirate.
He said the Islamic system had been established in Afghanistan following significant sacrifices and emphasized the importance of documenting and preserving the history and records of those sacrifices for future generations.
Ahmad also outlined the objectives of the General Directorate for the Preservation of Jihadi Heritage. He said the directorate would collect and document the biographies of civilian and military martyrs associated with the past 20-year jihad and preserve them for future generations. He added that artifacts and other materials related to the period would also be collected and displayed in museums.
Qari Ahmadullah Saeed Khosti, Director of Jihadi Heritage and Documents Registration, provided participants with an overview of the Law on the Preservation of Jihadi Heritage. He called on participants to document accounts of the jihad, related recollections and stories, and the biographies of martyrs, and to submit these materials to the relevant departments responsible for the preservation of jihadi heritage within the provincial directorates of information and culture.
He said the collection and documentation of these materials would support the preservation of records concerning the sacrifices of Afghans and their transmission to future generations.
