Seminar titled Paktia in the course of history yesterday started its work by a message of Hamid Karzai, president of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan. Following a series of seminars, the seminar which was held with participation of Eng. Amirzai Sangin, acting minister of telecommunication and information technology, deputy ministers of information and culture, a number of parliamentarians, tribal elders, cultural figures and members of provincial council of Paktia, Paktika, Khost, Ghazni and Logar provinces initiated by ministry of information and culture. At the beginning of the seminar, the president’s message was read out by Nabi Pakteen, general president of publications for ministry of information and culture. The message appreciated the ministry of information and culture for holding the seminar, adding location of various areas of Afghanistan, civilization and all Afghan culture and social characteristics teach us that these areas have seen and faced with small and big incidents and participation of these areas people have made the history of this land and identified cultural and historic figures of the land. The message said I believe the seminar would be successful like other seminars. Our explorers should study the area from different angles and evaluate participation of Paktia people in every incident and movement and all these explorations will result in full identification of Paktia and our countrymen will take advantage of it. The first seminar titled ‘Kandahar in the course of history’ was held eight years ago. During his speech in the seminar, Dr. Sayed Makhdoom Raheen, minister of information and culture said. “The seminar is one of those seminars initiated by ministry of information and culture almost eight years ago. Dr. Raheen said the seminar aims at full identification of every province during various periods of Afghan history. Dr. Raheen added we are happy that a daring province like Paktia, its people, history and all other characteristics are to be explored. One particular discussion will be about Paktia’s monuments and its various historic places and Afghan explorers have enough articles in this regard. Pointing out related to history, cultural and social documents of Paktia, Dr. Raheen said one of proud and big monument of Paktia is Merzaka Treasury, but unfortunately it has been stolen cowardly. Dr. Raheen added,” I’m thankful for Mangal tribe from whom I asked for preservation of Merzaka Treasury almost eight years ago. From that time, I haven’t heard any dreadful news related to the treasury. In the seminar, messages of a number of ministries, government and non-government organizations were read out. The messages appreciated the ministry of information and culture for its efforts and initiatives in this regard. In the seminar, a number of parliamentarians, tribal elders and cultural and social figures delivered their speeches related to Paktia’s history and people.
