The Signboards and Advertising Boards Reform Commission, affiliated with the Deputy Ministry for Publications Affairs of the Ministry of Information and Culture, continued its field activities by monitoring signboards and advertising displays in the Farhang Intersection (Deh Afghanan) area of the Second District of Kabul City.
At the outset, the Director of Cultural Affairs of Kabul Municipality, Mr. Qari Wali Gul Jawad, spoke about the Commission’s activities and called upon shopkeepers and tradesmen to exercise due care in organizing and arranging the content of their signboards.
Mr. Jawad emphasized that signboards and advertising displays must be prepared in accordance with the rulings of Islamic Sharia and the principles of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan. He stressed that images and non-Sharia-compliant content that may mislead public perception should be avoided, and that serious attention must be given to national languages, cultural values, and the orderly presentation of signboards. Furthermore, he stated that the installation of signboards that obstruct traffic visibility or the view of cultural and historical heritage sites must be prevented.
Mr. Jawad described public cooperation as essential in this important matter and added that through collective participation in this national initiative, the city’s signboards can be organized and beautified.
It is noteworthy that 100 signboards and advertising displays were inspected in the aforementioned area.
