Biography of Mullah Khairullah Khairkhwa
Minister of Information and Culture 

                  

Mullah Khairullah Khairkhwa son of the late Sayeed Wali was born in Gawhari village, Arghistan district of Kandahar province, southern Afghanistan.
After “Communist Coup” Mr. Khairkhwa along with his family immigrated to Pakistan, where  He has started Islamic studies at Baluchistan Saranan Camp then at the Mohammadia madrasa in Charat and Kohat 
Mullah Khairullah Khairkhwa is the memorizer of Holy Quran and he speaks Pashto, Dari, Arabic, English and Urdu fluently. 
He had active role in Jihad against the former Soviets Union and then began working with the Islamic Tehreek-e-Taliban led by the late Mullah Mohammad Omar “Mujahid” to eradicate corruption and provide security in the country.
Mr. Khairkhwa has served as spokesperson of Taliban before the conquest of Kabul, and also served as Minister of Interior Affairs, Governor General at southwest and Herat governor during the rule of Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan. 
After US invasion in Afghanistan, Mullah Khirullah Khairkhwa was arrested in Pakistan in 2002, then he transferred to the Guantanamo prison in Cuba on May 05, 2002, where he was imprisoned for more than 13 years. 
Mr. Khairkhwa was released as a result of an exchange of an American prisoner with four leaders of Taliban and transferred to Qatar on June 01, 2014. 
In 2018, Mullah Khairullah Khairkhwa was appointed as member of Taliban political office and member of negotiating team with the US. 
Now, Mullah Khairullah Khairkhwa is member of political office, and negotiating team and also Minister of Information of Culture.
