Cultural diplomacy plays an important role in enhancing relations between nations
On the 10th of Rabi al-Awwal 1446, the Honorable mullah khirullah khirkhwa Minister of Information and Culture met with the Minister of Culture of Russia, Olga Lyubimova, on the sidelines of the Union of Cultures meeting.
During the meeting, Ms. Lyubimova welcomed the Afghan delegation and emphasized the importance of strengthening cultural relations between the two countries. She praised the National Museum of Afghanistan for its preservation of cultural artifacts and commitment to providing Afghan youth with cultural training opportunities. Ms. Lyubimova also expressed Russia's readiness to enhance cultural ties through exhibitions and other activities.
In response, Minister Khairullah Khairkhah highlighted the significance of such cultural meetings in developing relations between the two countries. He emphasized the need to maximize this opportunity for the advancement of political and cultural relations. He mentioned that Russia is a country with vast geography and diverse cultures.
Mr. Khairkhah also mentioned that Afghanistan boasts 5,000 years of ancient history, with a rich cultural heritage spanning Islamic and other periods. Highlighting the importance of the tourism industry in cultural recognition and economic empowerment, the Minister of Culture referred to tourists as cultural ambassadors of their countries. He also noted that despite 40 years of war, Afghanistan is now welcoming a significant number of foreign tourists with country-wide security in place.
