Capacity-Building Seminar Held in Bamyan for Journalists, Media Officials, Writers, Intellectuals, and Youth

On 29 Muharram 1448 AH, a one-day capacity-building seminar themed "Enhancing Intellectual, Ideological, and Professional Capacity" was held in Bamyan. The event was organized by the Deputy Ministry for Publications Affairs of the Ministry of Information and Culture, in collaboration with the Bamyan Directorate of Information and Culture.
The officials, including Mawlawi Muhajir Farahi, Deputy Minister for Publications Affairs; Qari Gul Haidar Shafaq, Governor of Bamyan Province; various directors from the Ministry of Information and Culture; local government officials; and hundreds of journalists and cultural figures attended the seminar.
Qari Sayed Mustafa Saleh, Director of Information and Culture for Bamyan Province, opened the program by welcoming participants and underscoring the media's significance as one of society's most important institutions. He emphasized its essential role in public information and intellectual discourse.
Deputy Minister Mawlawi Muhajir Farahi stated that Afghanistan has made significant strides in economic, military, political, and other sectors since the re-establishment of the Islamic Emirate. He encouraged journalists to explore meaningful and constructive story ideas that reflect these achievements, urging them to produce impactful media content accordingly.
Farahi also mentioned that Afghanistan had endured nearly four and a half decades of occupation, during which foreign powers attempted to impose their own cultures. He highlighted the media's fundamental responsibility in preserving and enhancing Afghanistan's authentic cultural heritage.
Governor Qari Gul Haidar Shafaq spoke about the responsibilities of journalists and writers, asserting that media professionals should have a solid understanding of Islamic teachings. He emphasized the need for cooperation with relevant institutions to support the implementation of Islamic principles. He added that the work of journalists and writers represents both moral and material service, urging them to align their character and conduct with Islamic values to strengthen the Islamic system and the country.
During the seminar, the attendees included Qari Khabib Ghafran, Director of Public Relations and Spokesperson for the Ministry of Information and Culture; Mawlawi Abdul Haq Hammad, Adviser to the deputy minister for Publications Affairs; and Associate Professor Mohammad Shafiq Wardag of Kabul University. They discussed journalism principles, media responsibilities, and the importance of professional journalism.
They noted the considerable development of the media sector since the re-establishment of the Islamic Emirate, with dozens of new media outlets beginning operations. Effective measures have been implemented to address the challenges faced by media organizations and journalists, responding to their proposals.
The speakers emphasized that journalists and writers should remain committed to defending the truth, uphold Islamic media principles and relevant laws, and fulfill their roles in consolidating and strengthening the Islamic system.
Participants welcomed the training program and expressed hope for the continuance of similar initiatives aimed at enhancing the intellectual and professional capacities of journalists and youth in the future.
At the event's conclusion, representatives of Bamyan Province's media community presented an honorary chapan to Deputy Minister Mawlawi Muhajir Farahi in recognition of his contributions. Additionally, Mawlawi Safiullah Raed, Director of Media Monitoring, received a certificate of appreciation.
