Youth Affairs Directorate Signs Cooperation Agreement with ACTED

The Youth Affairs Directorate, operating under the General Directorate for the Preservation of Jihadi Heritage of the Ministry of Information and Culture, has signed a cooperation agreement with the international organization ACTED for a period of 12 months, valued at more than USD 324,000.
Mawlawi Sayed Mohammad Dawood Agha, Director of Youth Affairs, expressed his appreciation for ACTED’s activities and cooperation in supporting the country’s youth. He described acquiring skills aligned with labor market requirements as one of the key needs of the younger generation.
Referring to the importance of modern skills—particularly freelancing and online business, computer education, English language, graphic design, and professional and vocational skills—he emphasized the Youth Affairs Directorate’s commitment to comprehensive cooperation with ACTED.
Under the agreement, ACTED will implement its activities in the provinces of Faryab, Jawzjan, Balkh, and Samangan. As part of the program, 16 training centers will be established, including the renovation of the centers and the recruitment of managers and instructors.
In addition, six-month training courses in computer skills, English language, graphic design, and freelancing will be provided to 4,800 young people. Participants will also receive books and stationery free of charge.
In the area of sports, 16 sports teams will be established and provided with the necessary equipment. Furthermore, 16 youth groups, each consisting of 40 members, will be formed to strengthen young people’s capacities and provide training in leadership, writing, and public speaking.
During the meeting, in addition to modern educational programs, emphasis was also placed on religious and reform-oriented education. It was agreed that seminars aimed at moral and social improvement would be conducted for young people at the training centers, and a religious studies instructor would also be appointed.
A proposal was also put forward to support and fund the Youth Empowerment Centre in Kunduz Province. The Director of Youth Affairs proposed that similar programs be expanded to other provinces of the country to provide more young people with opportunities for education and capacity development.
