President Ghani Hands Over Ghorian’s Collection of Historical Documents to National Archives

The President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, on Saturday evening attended and delivered a speech at the ceremony of handing over the collection of Ghorian period to the National Archive, a statement said.
In the ceremony, which was held at the presidential Archive, Mohammad Tahir Zuhair, the acting minister of Information and Culture, appreciated Khajeh Mirza Mohammad’s deep national, historical and cultural feelings for handing over the historical documents to the National Archive.
The acting minister also said that manuscripts and historical and cultural relics in different parts of the country are kept by people committed to the homeland, adding that Ministry of Information and Culture is now working on a plan to organize a national call through a mechanism, based on which, the historical works and documents from individuals would be transferred to the National Archive. He added:
“In different periods of history, the National Museum and the National Archive were not safe from the effects of incidents and looting, and I wish that based on your cultural policy, the National Archives and the National Museum will be forever safe from incidents and looting.”
Later, Ghulam Mahiduddin Seddiqi provided information on obtaining the mentioned historical documents and preventing the theft of them.
He said that he was pleased to submit the historical documents of the Ghorian period, which belong to the all Afghans.
Then the President spoke and thanked Khajeh Mirza Mohammad for handing over the historical documents of the Ghorian period, and handed them over to Mohammad Tahir Zuhair, the acting minister of Information and Culture, and said: "Today is a happy day that a scientific and historical treasure of ours will be handed over to the National Archives, which will be important sources of research and interpretation for present and future generations, and its dimensions are so wide that shows various aspects of the history of Islam and other religions.”
The President said that he wanted to thank Khawaja Mirza Mohammad from the bottom of his heart, because without his attention, there was a danger of losing these important documents.
“Your commitment to the nation, religion and history is appreciable.”
He added that these documents will be at the service of all and needed to be digitized and made available to all historians of the world.
President Ghani pointed out that the history of Ghor has recently attracted a lot of attention in terms of comparative history, and it is necessary that these documents, along with other documents found here, clarify the dimensions of the Ghaznavid and Ghorian periods.
The president instructed the National Archives officials to prepare a national call and propose a specific mechanism to create a chapter in its budget.
He instructed the Ministry of Finance to prepare a special chapter for the National Archives and the Presidential Archives.
President Ghani said: "The key point is to make these documents electronic so that there is a copy for teachers and students to access.
These documents will also be translated into international languages. Because they are very rare and in most countries of the world there are very few documents from the Abbasid and Ghaznavid periods.”
