Signboards and Advertising Boards Reform Commission Conducts Inspection in Kabul’s Fourth District
The Signboards and Advertising Boards Reform Commission, operating under the Deputy Ministry for Publications Affairs of the Ministry of Information and Culture, continued its field inspection activities by reviewing signboards and advertising displays in the Baraki area of Kabul’s Fourth District.
At the outset of the program, Mr. Sayed Mahmood Wakman, a representative of the Academy of Sciences and a member of the Commission, briefed media representatives, shopkeepers, and local residents on the Commission’s mandate and ongoing efforts. Commission members also carried out their reform initiatives and shared recommendations in line with the Commission’s regulatory framework and operational standards.
As part of the inspection, several signboards that had been identified as non-compliant with established standards were reviewed by the Commission’s technical specialists. Suitable alternatives in Afghanistan’s national languages, Pashto and Dari, were proposed and evaluated to ensure greater linguistic accuracy and conformity with approved guidelines.
The Commission also examined a number of signboards that had been deemed outdated, improperly installed, inconsistent with Islamic values due to the images displayed on them, or likely to obstruct motorists’ visibility. Appropriate recommendations were provided to address these concerns and improve overall compliance.
More than 120 signboards and advertising displays within the designated area were assessed during the inspection program, reflecting the Commission’s continued efforts to enhance standards, promote the proper use of the national languages, and ensure adherence to relevant cultural and regulatory requirements.
