Meeting Held to Recognize Media Efforts in Covering Recent Events
A high-level meeting was convened on Monday (5th Jumada al-Awwal 1447 AH) at the Government Media and Information Center (GMIC) by the ministry of information and culture to commend Afghan media outlets for their responsible and effective coverage of recent national events.
Senior officials from the Ministry of Information and Culture, representatives from major news agencies, and journalists from print, broadcast, and digital media attended the session. Notable attendees included the Minister of Information and Culture, Sheikh Shair Ahmad Haqqani; Deputy Minister for Publications, Mr. Muhajir Farahi; Director of the GMIC, Mawlawi Naeemul Haq Haqqani; and heads of the Ministry’s media departments.
In his remarks, Deputy Minister Muhajir Farahi commended the Afghan media for standing alongside state institutions in countering misinformation and presenting accurate narratives during recent developments. He said Afghanistan has emerged from decades of conflict and is now focused on safeguarding its borders, preserving its Islamic identity, and upholding national values, while creating better opportunities and services for its citizens. Farahi urged both state and private media organizations to continue their cooperative efforts in advancing the country’s image and supporting national progress.
Speaking on behalf of the Spokesman of the Islamic Emirate, Mawlawi Zabihullah Mujahid, Mawlawi Naeemul Haq Haqqani expressed gratitude to journalists and media houses for their dedication and professionalism. He lauded their role in promoting factual reporting and national cohesion during recent events.
Delivering the keynote address, Minister Sheikh Shair Ahmad Haqqani emphasized the crucial role of the media in shaping public awareness and fostering national unity. He noted that peace and stability have been fully restored across Afghanistan and that under the policies of the Islamic Emirate, media organizations are operating independently and confidently throughout the country. The minister called on journalists to continue their work within the framework of Islamic and national values and to actively highlight Afghanistan’s achievements and development efforts.
He reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to full cooperation with all media institutions and announced that such interactive sessions would continue to strengthen coordination and mutual understanding between the government and the media.
During the meeting, media representatives reiterated their commitment to professional ethics, objectivity, and national solidarity. They emphasized that Afghanistan is a shared home for all its people and pledged continued cooperation with state institutions in fulfilling their journalistic responsibilities. Participants also raised media-related challenges and shared constructive recommendations, which officials promised to address through coordinated follow-up and practical measures.
