Three-Day Capacity-Building Seminar Launched for Employees of Tourism, Pilgrimage, Medical, Hajj, and Umrah Unions
On Saturday, 29 Dhul-Qa’dah al-Haram 1447 AH, the Tourism and Hospitality Institute under the Directorate of Tourism Research and Development of the Deputy Ministry for Tourism, Finance, and Administration at the Ministry of Information and Culture inaugurated a three-day capacity-building seminar for employees of the unions representing tourism, pilgrimage, medical, Hajj, and Umrah companies.
According to officials, the seminar aims to enhance the professional and academic capacities of employees working within the tourism, pilgrimage, medical, Hajj, and Umrah sectors, familiarize them with relevant principles and standards for the standardization of services, improve the quality of services provided to clients, strengthen managerial, communication, and practical skills, and increase awareness regarding laws, regulations, and professional ethics.
The seminar was attended by the Director of Tourism Research and Development, heads of the unions of tourism, pilgrimage, medical, Hajj, and Umrah companies, the Director and instructors of the Tourism and Hospitality Institute, representatives of tourism companies, and students of the institute.
While welcoming the participants, the Director of Tourism Research and Development, Mawlawi Mohammad Sadiq Sadaqat, stated that the seminar had been organized with the aim of improving professional capacities and enhancing the quality and effectiveness of activities carried out by employees of the aforementioned companies and unions.
Meanwhile, the Director of the Tourism and Hospitality Institute, Mawlawi Mohammad Zaman Nasiri, spoke about the significance and value of tourism, the institute's objectives and educational role, the promotion of tourism culture within the country, and the institute’s positive contribution to the development of the tourism sector. He added that the Ministry of Information and Culture attaches special importance to tourism and called upon employees of the relevant companies to make effective use of the opportunities provided in order to improve their professional performance and services further.
In addition, Mohammad Gulab Sultanzoy, Head of the Pilgrimage, Hajj, and Umrah Union, and Qari Ahmad Sir Rahimi, Head of the Medical and Tourism Union, emphasized the importance of standardizing the operations of tourism companies, improving the delivery of tourism, medical, and pilgrimage services, and strengthening cooperation and coordination among the unions.
Referring to the prevailing security situation, the hospitality of the Afghan people, and the Ministry of Information and Culture’s continued attention toward the growth and development of tourism, they stated that thousands of foreign tourists have so far visited Afghanistan and stressed the importance of presenting the country’s genuine, positive, and authentic image to the international community.
It is noteworthy that, throughout the three-day seminar, participants will receive comprehensive presentations and training on tourism and its various forms, tourist attractions, tourism from an Islamic perspective, the economic impacts of tourism, tourism marketing, electronic tourism, tourism services, and the principles and planning of domestic and international travel.
