Information and Culture Minister Reviews Cultural and Development Projects in Helmand
Minister of Information and Culture Sheikh Sher Ahmad Haqqani led a delegation to Helmand Province, where he reviewed the activities of the provincial Directorate of Information and Culture and inspected ongoing construction work at the Orphans’ Township and the Babaji transport bridge.
During the visit, Director of Information and Culture Hafiz Abdul Bari Rashid welcomed the minister and his delegation and briefed them on the directorate’s ongoing programs and achievements. He also provided an overview of the province’s historical sites, efforts to facilitate tourism, challenges facing local media, the need for a new administrative building for the directorate, the collection of jihad-era artifacts, and other matters related to the directorate’s activities.
Minister Haqqani heard the concerns and proposals raised by officials responsible for the directorate’s various areas of work. He expressed satisfaction with the progress made in its ongoing programs and achievements.
The minister described Helmand as a geographically large province that suffered extensive hardship and losses during the past 20 years of occupation, noting the significant sacrifices made by its people. He stressed that serving the people of Helmand is now a responsibility of the authorities.
Haqqani also issued instructions to officials overseeing the directorate’s various departments, emphasizing the need to further improve the quality and effectiveness of their work.
As part of the visit, Minister Haqqani, accompanied by Helmand Governor Mawlawi Amanuddin Mansour and the provincial Director of Information and Culture, inspected the ongoing construction of the Orphans’ Township near Lashkar Gah, the provincial capital. He also reviewed progress on the construction of a transport bridge in Babaji District.
Governor Mawlawi Amanuddin Mansour highlighted the social significance of the Orphans’ Township, describing the provision of suitable accommodation for orphans as a valuable charitable initiative. He said the project would help improve the living conditions of children without parental care, ease the challenges they face, and contribute to building a more stable future for them.
Emphasizing the importance of both projects, Minister Haqqani stressed the need to accelerate construction, maintain the required quality standards, and ensure that the work is carried out in accordance with established specifications. He also issued the necessary instructions to the engineers and officials responsible for the projects.
