Dr. Nanda Awaliast, Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia, visited the Bamyan Public Library with a delegation and donated 150 books to the library.

During the visit, Dr. Awaliast emphasized the importance of books and reading in promoting the intellectual, educational and cultural development of society. He noted that Indonesia organizes cultural programmes and book exhibitions in both Afghanistan and Indonesia to encourage reading and strengthen cultural ties between the two countries.

He said these initiatives aim to encourage young people to read, broaden their knowledge and make productive use of their free time. He also highlighted the importance of encouraging young people to spend more time reading, gaining knowledge and developing their intellectual abilities rather than spending excessive time on social media and virtual platforms.

The manager of the Bamyan Public Library welcomed the ambassador and expressed appreciation for the donation, describing it as a valuable contribution to the promotion of reading and cultural development. He thanked the ambassador for supporting the library through the donation of 150 books.

He added that the donation would help enrich the library’s collection, promote a stronger reading culture and provide young people and other readers with greater access to books and knowledge. He also emphasized that such cultural initiatives can contribute to the intellectual, educational and cultural development of society.

The library manager expressed hope that cultural cooperation between the Republic of Indonesia and Afghan cultural institutions would continue to expand, particularly through book exhibitions, reading promotion programmes and support for public libraries. He noted that stronger cooperation could create further opportunities to promote reading in Bamyan Province.
