Uzbekistan Pledges to Rehabilitate Historic Shah Mashrab Baba Shrine in Takhar Province

A delegation from the Republic of Uzbekistan, led by Azizjon Arifjonov, Deputy Head of the Agency for Cultural Heritage, visited Takhar Province and pledged to restore the historic shrine of Shah Mashrab Baba in Ishkamish District.
Mr Arifjonov said the restoration plan includes a designated area for animal sacrifice, a public library, a mosque, an ablution facility, green spaces, a car park and other necessary amenities.
Mawlawi Zabihullah Ansar, Director of Information and Culture in Takhar, briefed the delegation on the shrine’s historical and cultural background, its current condition and the requirements for its restoration.
During the visit, delegation members also met with local residents, who welcomed the commitment to restoring the historic site and expressed their appreciation for the attention given to its preservation.
