Coordination Meeting held with Spokespersons and Media Officials of Central Institutions
On Wednesday (24 Rabi al-Awwal 1447), the Directorate of Access to Information, under the Deputy Ministry of Publications of the Ministry of Information and Culture, held a coordination meeting with central institutions' spokespersons and media officials.
The meeting was attended by the Honorable Minister of Information and Culture, Sheikh Sher Ahmad Haqqani; Deputy Minister of Publications, Mohajer Farahi; Deputy Minister for Tourism, Finance, and Administrative Affairs, Mawlawi Qudratullah Jamal; Deputy Spokesman of the Islamic Emirate, Mawlawi Hamdullah Fitrat; Director of Bakhtar Information Agency, Mawlawi Zia-ul-Haq Haqmal; Director of the Directorate of Access to Information, Mawlawi Rahmatullah Nariwal; as well as spokespersons and media representatives from central institutions.
In his opening remarks, Mawlawi Rahmatullah Nariwal, Director of the Access to Information Directorate, welcomed the participants. He explained that the Directorate regularly organizes such meetings with media officials and spokespersons of both central and provincial institutions to strengthen coordination and improve efficiency. He encouraged spokespersons and media officials to share their institutions’ activities with the Directorate to ensure broader and more effective dissemination.
The Honorable Minister, Sheikh Sher Ahmad Haqqani, highlighted the significance and responsibilities of spokespersons. He emphasized that it is their duty to communicate the government’s activities, achievements, and progress to the public. He further noted that spokespersons must ensure accuracy, sound analysis, truthfulness, caution, and consistency in communication. He also called on media officials and spokespersons to publish only materials aligned with Islamic values and the government’s media policies.
Deputy Minister of Publications, Mohajer Farahi, underlined that the publication of reports can have both positive and negative effects on public opinion. He stressed that spokespersons should refrain from releasing information that could have negative consequences and emphasized the importance of stronger coordination between central and provincial spokespersons.
Mawlawi Zia-ul-Haq Haqmal, Director of Bakhtar Information Agency, described the role of spokespersons and media officials as a serious responsibility. He noted that adversaries possess extensive resources, disregard ethical standards, and disseminate false reports—factors that have caused public mistrust. Therefore, he urged spokespersons to safeguard public confidence and maintain constructive cooperation and coordination with the media.
Deputy Spokesman of the Islamic Emirate, Mawlawi Hamdullah Fitrat, also highlighted the importance of organizing such meetings. He provided several important and practical recommendations for spokespersons and media officials.
In conclusion, spokespersons and media officials shared their views, suggestions, questions, and concerns, which were addressed with detailed and satisfactory responses by Deputy Minister Mohajer Farahi.
