The Minister of Information and Culture discusses cooperation and the preservation of cultural heritage with the Ambassador of Japan.
On Sunday, 18 Jumada al-Awwal 1447 AH, Masamoto Kenichi, the Ambassador of Japan, met with H.E. Sheikh Shir Ahmad Haqqani, the Minister of Information and Culture, at the Ministry's headquarters.
At the outset of the meeting, Ambassador Masamoto Kenichi expressed his condolences and sympathy regarding the recent earthquake, stating that Japan would continue its humanitarian assistance to those affected. He affirmed Japan's commitment to supporting Afghanistan's stability, indicating that humanitarian issues would not be linked to political matters. Additionally, he praised the Islamic Emirate's efforts in combating narcotics and maintaining nationwide security.
Ambassador Kenichi discussed the current media landscape in Afghanistan and assured continued cooperation with the National Museum. He emphasized Japan's partnership with the Ministry of Information and Culture in preserving Afghanistan's cultural heritage.
Minister Haqqani warmly welcomed Ambassador Kenichi, highlighting the deep historical ties between Japan and Afghanistan. He expressed gratitude for Japan's ongoing and sincere assistance, as well as an interest in further strengthening relations.
Minister Haqqani further noted that Japan's cooperation with the National Museum of Afghanistan and its support for the preservation of historical monuments and artifacts are highly valuable. He expressed hope for continued and expanded collaboration in these areas.
He emphasized that the Islamic Emirate has demonstrated its solid commitment to eradicating narcotics cultivation, trade, trafficking, and use, as well as to the rehabilitation of addicts. He also stated that media outlets in Afghanistan enjoy full freedom within the framework of Islamic and Afghan values, and a suitable environment has been created for their professional activities.
