Professional Committee Meets on Restoration of Balkhi father Khanqah

Under the chairmanship of Mawlawi Atiqullah Azizi, Deputy Minister Arts and culture , a meeting of the professional committee was convened to discuss the restoration and rehabilitation of the khanqah of the father of Mawlana Jalaluddin Balkhi, located in Balkh Province.

The meeting was attended by Engineer Ajmal Maiwandi, Head of the Cultural Department of the Aga Khan Foundation; Engineer Javid, Head of the HAFU Institution; Engineer Mahmood Dost, Head of Historical Cities Development at the Ministry of Urban Development; and Engineer Hasib Nasimi, Head of Historical Monuments at the Ministry of Information and Culture.

During the meeting, TİKA (Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency) presented a proposal for the rehabilitation of the khanqah, along with plans for organizing and developing the surrounding area through the establishment of a public park. Members of the professional committee held in-depth discussions on the proposal.

Mawlawi Atiqullah Azizi emphasized that the preservation, restoration, and standard rehabilitation of historical and cultural heritage sites are among the core responsibilities of the state. He stressed that all activities must be carried out in accordance with historical authenticity, cultural significance, and international standards. He further called on the committee to strengthen the technical assessment of the restoration plan and to implement the project in a phased and scientifically grounded manner.

At the conclusion of the meeting, it was decided that technical revisions to the proposed plan would be finalized based on the recommendations of the professional committee, and that the views of TİKA and other relevant stakeholders would be taken into consideration.
