Progress in the Restoration and Reinforcement of the Historic Jam Minaret Reviewed
The Director of Information and Culture of Ghor Province traveled to Shahrak District to monitor and assess the progress of ongoing work inside the Jam Minaret, where he met with specialists from the Aga Khan Cultural Foundation and engineers involved in its restoration and rehabilitation.
During the visit, the Director expressed appreciation for the efforts and cooperation of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and the Aga Khan Cultural Foundation. He urged the engineers to give comprehensive attention to the restoration and stabilization of the historic site and to carry out the work with high quality and greater speed to prevent further deterioration.
The Director also inspected the ongoing construction of an aerial bridge near the Jam Minaret. The bridge is planned to be built over the Hari Rud River to provide greater convenience and accessibility for tourists. He also issued the necessary recommendations to the responsible officials to ensure that the construction work is carried out effectively.
It is worth noting that the reinforcement of the central pillar inside the historic minaret and the construction of the aerial bridge were initiated by the Ministry of Information and Culture, in coordination with UNESCO and the Aga Khan Cultural Foundation, and practical work on both projects is currently underway.
