The Deputy Ministry for Culture and Arts of the Ministry of Information and Culture held a cultural coordination meeting and traditional sports festival in Sar-e Pul, bringing together cultural figures, writers, scholars, teachers, young people and officials from local institutions.

Participants included Hafiz Saifur Rahman Mohammadi, head of the Department of Public Culture; Mullah Hamidullah Sayyar, head of the Governor’s Office in Sar-e Pul; and Mullah Abdul Ghaffar Haqnama, provincial director of Information and Culture, along with religious scholars and other local officials.

Hafiz Saifur Rahman Mohammadi described culture and history as fundamental elements of every society, noting that Afghanistan has an ancient culture and a rich historical heritage. He emphasized that safeguarding these values is a shared responsibility.

Mohammadi said the meeting aimed to promote and develop culture, civilization and knowledge. He stressed the importance of preserving historical monuments, Islamic culture and traditional sports, as well as educating young people in accordance with Islamic values.

He called on religious scholars, cultural figures, writers and young people to cooperate with the relevant institutions in preserving the country’s cultural and historical heritage. He encouraged them to submit their literary works, articles, positive traditional practices and traditional sports to the relevant authorities so they could be documented and preserved, with the necessary support provided for publication.

Mohammadi also stressed the need to prevent the spread of cultural practices that conflict with Islamic values, highlighting public cooperation with the system as important to the development and promotion of culture.

Mullah Abdul Ghaffar Haqnama, Director of Information and Culture in Sar-e Pul, welcomed the meeting and expressed appreciation for the participation of cultural figures, the presentation of articles and the recitation of cultural anthems.

Haqnama said the provincial department remained committed to serving cultural figures, writers and the public. He encouraged them to share their literary works, articles and other cultural materials with the department so that appropriate measures could be taken to document, preserve and introduce them to a wider audience.

He added that preserving Islamic culture, historical heritage and the community’s traditional values would be impossible without the cooperation of cultural figures and public participation.

The programme also featured cultural anthems, and the head of the Department of Public Culture presented certificates of appreciation to several cultural figures in recognition of their contributions.
