The Renovation Project of Sultan Mahmud Ghaznavi’s Shrine Park Completed and Handed Over for Use

The inauguration ceremony for the renovation project, held at the Shrine of Sultan Mahmud Ghaznavi in Ghazni Province, was attended by the deputy minister for Art and Culture of the Ministry of Information and Culture, Mawlawi Atiqullah Azizi; the Ambassador of Türkiye in Kabul, Cenk Ünal; the Governor of Ghazni, Mawlawi Abdul Samad Javed; along with numerous government officials and local elders.

In his address, the deputy minister for Art and Culture expressed gratitude to TİKA, the cultural agency of Türkiye, for completing the renovation project of the park and its adjacent facilities at the mausoleum of Sultan Mahmud Ghaznavi. He stated that Türkiye’s contribution to the restoration of Afghanistan’s historical monuments reflects the shared historical heritage and longstanding relations between the two nations.

Mr. Azizi further elaborated on the life, bravery, and historical legacy of Sultan Mahmud Ghaznavi, describing him as a Muslim emperor of the Islamic world and a torchbearer of Islamic culture.

The deputy minister also pledged the establishment of a scientific and cultural library and a museum at the shrine of Sultan Mahmud Ghaznavi to meet the academic and cultural needs of the people of Ghazni.

The head of TİKA provided information regarding this project as well as other projects being implemented by the organization in Afghanistan.

The Ambassador of Türkiye, Cenk Ünal, spoke about the relations between the two countries and described Sultan Mahmud Ghaznavi as a distinguished and everlasting figure among the peoples of Türkiye and Afghanistan. He assured that Türkiye would further contribute to the restoration of historical monuments in Ghazni.

The Governor of Ghazni, Mawlawi Abdul Samad Javed, also expressed his appreciation to TİKA and the Ambassador of Türkiye for their attention to Ghazni and their participation in the restoration and development of the shrine and mausoleum of Sultan Mahmud Ghaznavi.
