Meeting Discusses Role of Cultural Heritage in Faryab’s Economic Development

The Ministry of Information and Culture’s Directorate of Public Culture, in cooperation with the Faryab Provincial Department of Information and Culture, held a meeting titled “The Role of Cultural Heritage in Faryab’s Economic Development.” The meeting was attended by officials from local administrations, professors from Faryab University and a large number of residents of the province.
Addressing the meeting, the Director of Public Culture spoke about the importance of culture in shaping the historical and social identity of communities. He noted that cultural heritage holds not only historical and spiritual value but also offers opportunities to promote tourism, generate economic opportunities and introduce the country’s regional assets.
He emphasized that preserving cultural heritage is not solely the responsibility of government institutions. The public, cultural figures, writers and younger generations also have a responsibility to protect these valuable assets.
The director also reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to registering and publishing the works of cultural figures, preserving and maintaining historical monuments, and promoting tourism culture throughout the country. He stressed the importance of introducing and documenting the country’s cultural and historical heritage.
During the meeting, the Head of Youth Affairs at the Faryab Provincial Department of Information and Culture presented information on the meeting’s theme and shared the contents of Decree No. 17, issued by the leadership (may God protect him), with participants.
Faryab University professors Ashraf Sharifi and Bashir Ahmad Masoumi, along with writer and cultural activist Mohammad Ishaq Shamsi, presented papers and research on the province’s historical background, cultural values, the significance of its historical heritage, and the need to preserve and protect its historical monuments.
Participants also stressed the importance of preserving and promoting Faryab’s cultural heritage. They called on the Ministry of Information and Culture to take the necessary steps to publish poets’ works and register and document the province’s historical artifacts.
At the end of the meeting, the Ministry of Information and Culture’s representative presented certificates of appreciation to a number of elders.
