One-Day Training Seminar Held for Hundreds of Journalists, Media Officials, Writers, Literary Activists and Youth

On 1 Rabi’ al-Thani 1448 AH, the Deputy Ministry for Publications Affairs of the Ministry of Information and Culture held a one-day training seminar in Faryab for hundreds of journalists, media officials, writers, literary activists and youth under the theme “Enhancing Intellectual, Religious and Professional Capacity.” Mawlawi Muhajir Farahi, Deputy Minister for Publications Affairs, along with a number of ministry directors and officials from local institutions, attended the seminar.
Welcoming the participants at the opening of the seminar, Mawlawi Shamsuddin Muhammadi, Director of Information and Culture of Faryab, said programmes of this kind play an important role in promoting journalists’ intellectual development, strengthening their religious and Islamic beliefs, enhancing their professional knowledge and improving the quality of media activities.
He said that, in the current era, the media are among the most important means of raising public awareness, contributing to social reform, promoting cultural development and reflecting realities. Journalists, he stressed, have a responsibility to provide the public with accurate and useful information while upholding honesty, integrity, accuracy and professional standards.
Speaking on the responsibilities of journalists and media outlets, Mawlawi Muhajir Farahi said the media should convey to the public all decrees of the Amir al-Mu’minin (may Allah preserve him) issued for the well-being of the people. He further called on the media to inform the public and the international community about the major achievements of the Islamic Emirate, which, he said, have had no precedent in recent decades.
Farahi also emphasized that officials and spokespersons of government institutions are responsible for maintaining comprehensive cooperation with the media and ensuring proper access to information in order to help prevent the dissemination of inaccurate news.
Qari Habib Ghufran, Director of Public Relations and Spokesperson of the Ministry of Information and Culture; Mawlawi Abdul Haq Hammad, Adviser to the Deputy Ministry for Publications Affairs; along with a number of provincial officials and university lecturers, addressed the principles of journalism and the responsibilities of journalists.
The speakers stressed the importance of verifying the truth and accuracy of information before publishing news, noting that Islam does not permit the dissemination of false or unfounded reports.
They further described journalists as educators of society and emphasized that the media have a responsibility to contribute to building an informed society. Journalists, they said, should carry out their professional activities in accordance with religious and ideological values and with the aim of contributing to the country’s development.
At the conclusion of the seminar, a journalist representing the journalists of Faryab province spoke about the challenges facing media outlets and journalists and called for their resolution. He welcomed the organization of the seminar and called for similar programmes to be held in the future.
