MOIC Commission Inspects Signage and Advertising Boards in Kabul’s District 20
The Commission for the Reform of Signage and Advertising Boards, under the Ministry of Information and Culture’s Deputy Ministry for Publications Affairs, inspected signage and advertising boards in the Chahar Asiab Bazaar area of Kabul’s District 20 as part of its ongoing field activities.
At the outset, Inamullah Amani, a representative of the Cultural Affairs Directorate of Kabul Municipality, briefed shopkeepers, traders and business owners on the commission’s activities in the presence of its members.
The commission members assessed the signage and advertising boards against the standards set out in the relevant procedure and recommended changes to those that did not comply. They also proposed suitable alternatives in Afghanistan’s national languages for foreign terms and words.
In addition, the members cleaned signs and advertising boards that were meaningless, outdated or contained inappropriate content that conflicted with Islamic rulings, Afghan culture or the principles of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan.
More than 100 signs and advertising boards were inspected during the programme.
