Ancient Fortress Dating Back to Approximately 300 BC Officially Recorded in Parwan
The Directorate of Information and Culture of Parwan Province has officially recorded an ancient historical site known as Kafir Qala, located in the Franjal area of the Sia Gerd (Ghorband) District. This is the first time the site has been included in the database of historical monuments. According to the Directorate, the fortress dates back to around 300 years before the birth of Christ (300 BC).
The Director of Information and Culture of Parwan noted that Kafir Qala is positioned atop a prominent hill in a highly strategic and well-fortified location. The site is characterized by numerous defensive towers, a large entrance gate, and tall protective walls, suggesting that it was constructed and utilized for military and defensive purposes during its time.
The Director also emphasized the Directorate's commitment to fully implementing the decree of Amir al-Mu'minin (May Allah Protect Him) regarding the preservation of historical monuments and sites. He stated that they are actively working to restore historical sites that require conservation and urged the people of Parwan Province to collaborate closely with the Directorate in identifying, documenting, and safeguarding the province's historical heritage.
Residents have mentioned that an ancient settlement known as Buda Village is located to the north of Kafir Qala.
