Signage and Advertising Boards Reform Commission Conducts Monitoring Visit in Kabul’s 13th District
The Signage and Advertising Boards Reform Commission, operating under the Deputy Ministry for Publications Affairs of the Ministry of Information and Culture, continued its field activities by conducting a monitoring visit of commercial signs and advertising boards in the Dasht-e Barchi area of Kabul’s 13th District.
At the outset of the programme, Mr. Wakman, a representative of the Academy of Sciences of Afghanistan and a member of the Commission, spoke to the media about the significance of the Commission’s cultural initiatives and their role in promoting standardized public signage.
The Commission subsequently carried out a comprehensive review of signs and advertising boards in the area in accordance with its approved standards and guidelines. Recommendations were issued to correct non-compliant signs and advertising boards. In addition, the Commission’s technical specialists proposed appropriate equivalents in the national languages for signs containing foreign words and terminology.
The Commission also presented recommendations to improve signs and advertising boards that had deteriorated over time, contained images deemed inconsistent with Islamic principles, were installed in unsuitable locations, or featured unclear or inappropriate content.
A total of 180 signs and advertising boards were monitored and evaluated during the field visit.
