Meeting Held with Faryab Printing Presses and Bookstores to Strengthen Copyright Compliance
A meeting was held with representatives of printing presses, publishing houses, and bookstores in Faryab Province to discuss the implementation of copyright principles and the protection of authors’ rights.
The meeting was attended by officials from the Faryab Directorate of Information and Culture and Mawlawi Abdul Zahir Mukhlis, Director of the Copyright Office under the Deputy Ministry of Publications Affairs of the Ministry of Information and Culture.
Mawlawi Abdul Zahir Mukhlis said the meeting was aimed at explaining the applicable copyright principles and regulations, providing information on procedures for printing and publishing, and hearing the concerns and challenges faced by representatives of printing presses and bookstores.
He further emphasized that no book should be printed without a sequential ISBN number and that all authors should obtain an ISBN number from the Copyright Office for books prepared for publication.
Representatives of printing presses, publishing houses, and bookstores in Faryab, meanwhile, said that enforcing the Copyright Law is important for protecting the rights of authors and publishers. They also shared a number of challenges and recommendations concerning their activities with the officials.
The Director of the Copyright Office assured the participants that their requests and recommendations would be shared with the Ministry’s leadership.
