The Khost Provincial Department of Information and Culture, in cooperation with the General Directorate for the Preservation of Jihadi Artefacts, held a meeting in Khost city with officials from local civilian and military institutions to discuss the registration, collection and preservation of jihadi artefacts and documents.

Khost Governor Mawlawi Abdul Rahman Haqqani said the collection and documentation of jihadi artefacts was a shared responsibility. He stressed that records of past sacrifices and historical events should be preserved and passed on to future generations. He also assured the meeting of his support for the process and called on relevant officials to extend their full cooperation.

Mufti Mohammad Tahir Ahmad, Director General of the General Directorate for the Preservation of Jihadi Artefacts, said the directorate was established to collect and preserve the belongings and biographical accounts of mujahideen and martyrs and pass them on to future generations.

He called on group commanders to document the events they had witnessed during the jihad, the contributions and activities of their friends, and other historical accounts, and to share these records with the directorate for preservation as part of the country's history.

Qari Ahmadullah Saeed Khosti, Director of Registration of Jihadi Artefacts and Documents at the General Directorate, and the Head of the Khost Provincial Department of Information and Culture said that, in accordance with an order from the leadership of the Islamic Emirate, meetings were being held with mujahideen across the country to explain the importance of jihadi artefacts and the relevant law.

They explained that jihadi artefacts are divided into two categories: physical and non-physical. The collection programme will also cover equipment and other belongings of martyrs. Plans include erecting a  memorial monument in each province, bearing the names of its martyrs. In areas where major military operations and martyrdom attacks took place, 10-metre-high memorial monuments will also be erected. The graves of martyrs are also to be restored.
