The Department of Public Libraries, Ministry of Information and Culture, hosted a book launch at Queen's Palace Hall, Bagh-e Babur, for "Imam of Jihad and Politics" by Abdul Mateen Atifi.
Officials stated that the book documents the life, speeches, poetry, influence, personal memories, and scholarly views of the late Mawlawi Mohammad Nabi Mohammadi, a leading Afghan jihadi figure and founder of Harakat-e Inqilab-e Islami Afghanistan. The event aimed to introduce the publication, highlight its content, encourage scholarly discussion, promote reading and research, and acknowledge the author's academic contribution.
The ceremony was attended by Mawlawi Atiqullah Azizi, Deputy Minister for Art and Culture at the Ministry of Information and Culture; Mawlawi Makhdoom Abdul Salam Saadat, Deputy Minister at the MOHIA Mawlawi Mohammad Naqib Mohammadi, son of Mawlawi Mohammad Nabi Mohammadi; as well as religious scholars, writers, and literature enthusiasts.
Opening the event, Dr. Rafiullah Samim, Director of Public Libraries, said that 109 public libraries are currently operating nationwide. He noted that the department is working to provide suitable opportunities for religious scholars, university students, school students, and book lovers to engage in reading and study.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mawlawi Makhdoom Abdul Salam Saadat, Deputy Minister at MOHIA, said that religious scholars have played a significant and decisive role throughout Afghanistan's history. He stated that occupying powers had consistently sought to impose their ideas and objectives on the country, but Afghan religious scholars stood firm in defending the nation's religious and national values. He added that speaking out during the communist era was not easy, yet Mawlawi Mohammad Nabi Mohammadi courageously raised his voice, and that his scholarly and jihadi services remain a source of pride.
Mawlawi Atiqullah Azizi, Deputy Minister for Art and Culture, emphasized that documenting and publishing the lives, achievements, and services of religious scholars and mujahideen is an ethical, Islamic, and religious responsibility. He noted that producing and disseminating such works helps preserve the country's history while safeguarding its academic and cultural heritage.
Azizi also called on religious scholars, researchers, and authors to document the memories, scholarly and educational activities, sacrifices, and contributions of distinguished scholars so that future generations can benefit from this valuable legacy.
Mawlawi Mohammad Naqib Mohammadi, son of Mawlawi Mohammad Nabi Mohammadi, expressed appreciation to the Ministry of Information and Culture for organizing the event. He said that his father earned recognition not through organizational activities, but through his religious scholarship, teaching, and academic service. He stressed that history should be recorded truthfully and on the basis of facts and passed on faithfully to future generations. He added that organizing such programmes is particularly important and valuable in today's intellectual environment.
The event also featured comprehensive presentations by prominent Afghan writer and researcher Mawlawi Shir Agha Rashidi, the book's author Mawlawi Abdul Mateen Atifi, and writer Dad Mohammad Nawak, who discussed Mawlawi Mohammad Nabi Mohammadi's scholarly, jurisprudential, and jihadi character, his life, achievements, and political and jihadi activities. They emphasized that he was among the most distinguished and influential figures in Afghanistan's contemporary history and that his scholarly, religious, and jihadi contributions occupy a special place in the country's historical legacy.
The ceremony concluded with remarks by Sheikh al-Hadith Mawlawi Mohammad Ismail Rahmani, a teacher at Kabul Jihadi Madrasa, who reflected on the life and historical struggles of Mawlawi Mohammad Nabi Mohammadi. The event ended with a prayer led by Mawlawi Rahmani.
